PRIVACY

At Broker Desk, we are committed to protecting your privacy and privacy of your clients in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Privacy Amendment Act 2012 (Cth). This Privacy Policy describes our current policies and practices in relation to the handling and use of personal information.

What information do we gather, and how do we use it?

As a service provider, we have to get and keep detailed information about you (“personal information”) that can be used to identify you or tell something about you. Also, in order to give you a complete service, we need to know some personal details about you or your clients.

We use the information you give us to send you product information. We might use the information you give us to improve our services and figure out how to fix any problems.

Unless the law says otherwise, we don’t collect sensitive information about you unless you give us permission to do so and it’s reasonable for us to do so in order to do our jobs and activities. Conditions at the time of collection may make it clear that consent was given. There may also be times when we have to or are allowed by law to collect sensitive information without your permission.

Use and disclosure of personal information

We may use or share personal information for the main reason it was gathered in the first place. We may also use the information for a purpose that is related to it and that you would probably expect us to use it for. This information is only given to third parties in the ways described in this policy or in other ways that are made clear to you when the information is collected.

Some of your personal information may need to be shared with:

1. Prospective funders or other intermediaries in relation to your finance requirements;

2. Other organisations that are involved in managing or administering your finance; and

3. Anyone, where you have provided us consent.

Before we give any of your personal information to someone else or an organisation, we will do everything we can to make sure that:

1. The person or organisation is at least as committed as we are to protecting your personal information; or

2. You have given us permission to tell the person.

How do we keep your information and keep it safe?

We only keep personal information for as long as it makes sense to do so for the reason it was collected or to meet any legal or ethical reporting or document retention requirements.

We have access to the information we’ve gathered about you through our software partners’ secure online servers. We will do our best to keep this information private, but you should use the highest level of online security for your personal logins when using these software packages.

Access to Personal Information

By sending an email to brokersupport@brokerdesk.com.au, people can ask for information about their personal information that we may have or ask that we update it. We will answer such requests within 10 days of getting the person’s question.

At the person’s request or when it’s otherwise right to do so, we will give the source of the information any updated information (e.g. our client).
